Many medieval knights wore a "bevoir" in addition to their sallet helmet to protect the lower face part.
Such a face protection is offered here.
However, the "bevoir" was a little uncomfortable when it reduced the ventilation under the helmet and they liked to take it off.
There are many accounts of knights being killed by thrusts to the face or throat when they had thoughtlessly removed it.
We have copied such a "bevoir" from an original sallet.
It is made from 16 gauge steel and weighs 1 kg (2 lbs.)
