I am selling an authentic reproduction of Napoleon's Imperial Guard Sabre,in French : Sabre de Chasseur á cheval de la Garde Impèriale, type 1803.Its curved steel blade is 86 cms./33.8" long.On the blade you find the inscription "Klingenthal" and 2 inspector markings: M under a star and LW.
Total length of sabre (blade in brass scabbard with leather lining) is 106 cms/41.5".Weight : 2.2 kgs/ 4.8 lbs.
It is ideal for display and a famous sabre for re-enactors. .Experts say that approximately 7000 of these sabres were originally made, but too many must have been lost in Napoleon's battles from Austerlitz to Waterloo, so that original sabres are very rare and thus very expensive for collectors.
