I am selling a copy of a Roman shield for reenactors in original size.
This style of shield with its handmade painted design was copied from finds during excavations in Dura Europos (near river Euphrat) in the 1920sand now at show at Yale university. Paintings on the shields were remarkably well preserved in a desert climat of almost 2000 years.See photos of the original under google's picture service with searchwords "Dura europos" and "shield"
It is made from plywood with a linen surface and a rim of brass. It weighs abt. 6 kgs. (13 lbs).
Overall height : 107 cms. (42 inch) Overall width : 72 cms. (28,5 inch) measured along the surface.
Its brass buckle can be easily mounted and de-mounted by 4 screws with brass knobs on top as shown on my bottom photo.
Now, see the image of a Roman warfare "testudo", the protective screen of overlapping shields held overhead and on the sides:
Because of its size shipment to the US is not possible, sorry.
